Official launch for Dumfries World Championship
The official launch of Group A of the Division II World Championship took place in Dumfries.
The Dumfries Ice Bowl will host Britain, Estonia, Japan, Korea, the Netherlands and Romania.
The six-team IIHF tournament will run from Sunday 10 to Saturday 16 December.
The tournament, jointly organized by Ice Hockey UK and Dumfries & Galloway Council, represents another shine for the region as it once again welcomes international ice hockey for the sixth year in a row.
Councilor Adam Wilson, who leads the council's event strategy that has offered several important opportunities to the region, said: "The Ice Hockey World Championship is a wonderful tournament to offer to Dumfries.
"We have an enviable recent tradition of hosting IIHF World Championship tournaments and are proud to be able to bring Britain's national team back to the Under 20 level at the age of 20. South West of Scotland.
"Ice hockey is alive and well in Dumfries and previous tournaments have really improved the profile and participation numbers in the sport – I'm sure this U20 World Championship will be no different."
Tickets for the tournament are on sale and range from £ 5 for a match ticket to £ 25 for the title of champion of the week.
There are group discounts available and up to two children under 16 can go free with every adult who buys tickets.
