Myers keen for puck to drop for GB’s Worlds campaign
Britain's Matthew Myers wants to finally host the world championships, as the puck now falls on Pete Russell's men's tournament.
The Cardiff Devil Pillar is ready for the country's first experience in 25 years when he faces Germany in his opening match today at 3:15 pm at the Steel Arena in Kosice .
And Myers is eager to compete with high quality players throughout the tournament over the next two weeks.
"We can not wait to go on ice now," he said. "Our preparation has been fantastic, but we just want to start now. We spent great weeks together and played in five important warm-up games, which allowed us to be an endless end.
"We know we are competing with the best in the world, but we can not wait to show what we can do. Everyone is looking forward to being on the world stage and facing so many top players.
"It's a difficult group, that's for sure, and that will last a few weeks, so it will be a real test of our abilities.
"We have seen with the match against Slovakia the standards we need to define and it will not be different against Germany, which will offer a difficult start to the match."
