Flyers complete roster with playoff winning defenceman
The Fife Flyers, sponsored by Arnold Clark Mercedes-Benz, are delighted to confirm the signing of American defenseman Jim Jorgensen for the 2017/18 Elite Ice Hockey League season.
Jorgensen joins the Flyers with great experience after spending 4 seasons in North America and 5 seasons at the EIHL, having been ice-cold with Sheffield Steelers, Braehead Clan and Coventry Blaze, where he was part of the 2014 playoffs / 15 Chuck Weber.
Jorgensen, originally from Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, spent four years at Ferris State University and was part of the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs group that won the CHL playoffs in 2010/11.
In his first season of the LSIJ, Jorgensen was iconic with the Braehead Clan and was named in the second Elite League team after scoring 52 points (16 goals and 36 assists) in 60 games regular season and dam. ]
Jorgensen participated in a total of 246 games, totaling 38 goals and 105 assists for the LAI.
Assistant Coach Jeff Hutchins said, "I have played and coached against Jim and we will be a better team with him in our lineup.
"We were looking for a regular d-man who will be good on the ice and in the locker room.We have a very tight young group this year and the addition of a player and a person as he will only strengthen the group.
"He will be one of the oldest men and we expect him to provide a strong veteran presence day in and day out.We are pleased that we can make a deal with him.
"Todd and I must thank the property for acting swiftly to bring it here in time for the weekend."
Jim added, "I am extremely happy to return to the league I have called home for 5 seasons, especially in Fife, of which I've heard a lot of good things from D & D. Former players.
"It looks like the club has a great chance to win the conference and fight for gear this season and we all win.
"I can not wait to go!"
Jim is expected to arrive in Fife later this week and is expected to be in the line-up this weekend against Braehead Clan on Saturday and make his home debut against the Guildford Flames on Sunday.
