Devils win in Guildford, 2 goals from Haddad
Joey Haddad scored twice to lead the charge for the Devils while they won a 5-2 win over the Guildford Flames on Wednesday.
The first goal came on a penalty shot after Joey Haddad was dislocated while he was all alone on Flames goaltender Chris Carrozzi. Haddad was caught on the game but managed to score on the penalty shot that followed him to make 1-0 at 9:10.
The Flames quickly tied thanks to Kevin Phillips who scored to tie 1-1 with a goal at 10:38. A second goal from Haddad at 12:13 gave the Devils a 2-1 lead, allowing the first period to end.
Rhett Rachinski tied the scoring for the Flames on the power play at 23:20 with Andrew Hotham sitting in the penalty box for tripping. At 34:05, the Devils took the lead when Justin Faryna scored to bring the score to 3-2, which happened after 40 minutes of action.
The third period saw both teams shoot 14 shots on the net from each other, but only the Devils managed to score goals. At 48:13, Layne Ulmer took the lead 4-2 for the Devils, then Joey Martin scored to bring the score to 5-2 at 49:51, allowing the match to end.
Ben Bowns made 23 saves and Joey Haddad was chosen by the Man of the Match after scoring twice in the first period.
