Long-serving ‘D’ man extends Giants deal
Defender Mark Garside accepted his eighth season with Belfast Giants .
The 28-year-old scored 56 goals with 139 assists in 418 games for the club.
Garside was a regular on the British side for seven consecutive seasons and was part of the team that recently won the World Championship (Division 1B) tournament in Belfast.
Head coach Adam Keefe said, "I'm excited to keep Mark in Belfast and I know our fans will be too. He works very hard for the team and can play in any situation.
"More importantly, Mark knows how to win with two league titles in Belfast as well as the recent World Championship gold medal and he will play a key role in our quest for silverware.
Garside added, "It has been a pleasure playing for the Giants all this time and the ambition to win trophies is a great desire to stay here – the city is great and makes things easier.
"When I arrived at the age of 21 from the Edinburgh Capital, you do not really look that far in the future, so I'm happy to be still there.
"It's sad to see Derrick Walser leave and we were very close in the title race .. Under him, I was going from front to back, which was different.
"I loved playing there and when I came back there – I felt very comfortable doing it, it was really good for me.
"But I think that Adam will do a good job and he's been an assistant coach for two years now, so he's learned the ropes and I think he'll be a great coach to play. "
