Buesa tastes the bright lights
There is a quiz question when you can ask, which Scottish player provided an assist for a goal scored by the NHL and KHL legend Alexei Yashin. The answer would be Fife Flyers attacker Jordan Buesa.
Two years ago, the 20-year-old Troon player was in Toronto for a hockey school, completing his skills after leaving the Braehead clan. The next thing he knew was that he played an important role in a movie.
"The Last Big Save", now available to watch on Amazon Prime is one that may have been overlooked by fans of ice hockey cinema, but now there he is, with Buesa, who appeared with Daniel Baldwin, one of the Baldwin brothers, of course, and Yashin, who played himself.
And the Flyers man looked back at a night he will never forget by combining being an ice hockey player with the life of an actor, even if it’s Was for a few hours.
"When I was in Canada two summers ago, I went to a hockey school and there was a family with whom I stayed there," he said.
"This film was in progress and they needed supplements. It turns out that Mario Filice, whom I stayed with the family, knew the producer and director of the film and he was able to help me get on, which was pretty cool.
"I didn't expect much to be honest. I was asked to be at the rink for 7 pm and we changed and We sat in the locker room for hours while the actors reviewed their scenes and their lines.
«In the movie, I had an assist on a goal from Alexei Yashin, which you actually see in the final cut. It was a really cool experience and something that few people can say.
"It was all done overnight, but after thinking it would only take an hour or two, we weren't done until around midnight and I had to get up at 7 am for my hockey school. I guess that's the life of showbiz. "
Buesa remembers spending time with Daniel Baldwin, but the whole experience of watching a film in progress really opened his eyes to the film industry and revealed the reaction when the cast had a Scottish ice hockey player in the middle of them.
He added: "This night really gave me a glimpse of the making of films that I did not expect. It was a real revelation and I am happy to # 39; having been involved in my own way.
"I didn't expect much. I just expected to skate a bit and do a few things, but when you look back, you can see me clearly. I was very surprised.
"They were also a little surprised to see a Scottish guy playing ice hockey there too, but they were good people and I am delighted to have the chance to participate in something like that.
"I must have spent time with Daniel Baldwin, one of the Baldwin brothers and I remember that at that time, his niece, Hailey, got engaged with Justin Bieber, so the guys were joking with him about the wedding invitation.
"Since then, I've been waiting for the call from Hollywood producers, but nothing yet so I'll have to continue playing professionally for the moment. "
The early season shutdown had an impact on everyone in ice hockey in all kinds of ways and Buesa is no different as he works to stay fit during the dead- season.
But despite the disappointment of not knowing if Fife could have made his way to the dams, he turned to the next challenge.
Buesa said, "It's amazing how much we all take for granted that we can go out and interact with other people and, certainly, as a hockey player, I'm at the rink. or at the gym where I travel for matches.
"You are always on the move and therefore reduced to having to stay at home, it is difficult to take, but it is for the better and more there are people who obey and do what is requested, the sooner we can get back to
"There are a lot of home workouts and I'm fortunate to have weights, a treadmill, a spin bike so I'm able to keep myself in shape and work towards the new season, when it's going to be
"We will never know if we could have gotten back into the play-offs, but it was a disappointing way to end the season. You never want to not finish your games, knowing that you had a chance to turn things around, but that was unfortunate and understandable. "
