Josef Hrabal joins Steelers
The Sheffield Steelers announced the signing of defender Josef Hrabal.
Hrabal, 34, could make his debut this weekend while the club hopes to have completed its international transfer formalities, the player to arrive in Sheffield Friday.
He joined the HC Prerov club in Czech 2, having made eight appearances so far this season. This will be his first participation at the EIHL.
Head Coach Aaron Fox also confirmed that Mikko Kuukka had left the club after his probationary period and that he would return to the Finnish Liiga.
"It was a difficult decision to go home to Finland, I was very happy to play Sheffield and I was surprised at the quality and profession of the team. I wish everyone here the best, "said Mikko
On the news, Fox added, "We always knew that Mikko would be a short-term signature, in fact I think we had the chance to keep it as long as we did. He really enjoyed his stay here and I think it was a more difficult decision for him than he thought it was going to be.
"We are leaving on good terms and we never know if our paths will cross again
"We are looking for a new replacement and we are delighted to sign Josef. He is a bit more a two-way player, so he is not a comparable substitute for Mikko
"Josef has extensive experience, he has played in the best leagues, including the KHL and last year was a teammate of Marek Troncinsky.
"We are doing our utmost to have the documents sorted out by the weekend, we are confident that he will be in the queue for Fife on Saturday."
