I Am Team GB: Your chance to play Ice Hockey for free
The GB team, British ice hockey and the National Ice Center (NIC) of Nottingham combine to offer the opportunity to play free ice hockey.
Inspired by the achievements of Team GB athletes and the remarkable efforts of local community heroes, I Am Team GB created the country's largest sports day on Saturday, August 24, 2019.
Of course, GB created its own story not only by reaching the top of the World Championship, but by avoiding relegation by a spectacular victory over France after its defeat on the last day.
There will be hundreds of free and fun activities across the country, led by incredible volunteers named I Am Team GB Games Makers.
The event taking place at the NIC will include an ice hockey initiation session, an off-ice skill challenge and a family skating session, all for free.
NIC Sport Development Officer Ryan Rathbone said, "Events at the National Ice Center will include a skills challenge off the ice, allowing everyone to become a hockey master.
"By completing all the challenges – skating, puck control, passes, shooting and 1v1 – everyone can have the feeling of performing the hockey master job.
"All the challenges were specifically designed to be simple while giving people a taste of the sport.
"There will also be a free family skating session and we will also be offering a series of ice hockey introductory sessions.
"This will allow people to try ice hockey in a fun and safe environment."
Activities are open from 4 pm on Saturday, August 24th.
